Spring Break once was a holiday reserved for college students but I truly never craved a break when I was an undergrad. However, as an adult I think it is important to take a breather and enjoy the beautiful weather Florida has to offer every March. I partook in SB 2018 with some teacher friends, kicking it off in The Oldest Cit. We rallied in St. Patty’s Day Festivities and sprawled out on St. Augustine beaches. Upon return home, I went to The Breakers for a bougie beach bum day. I learned you are never too old for a Spring Break, but it is harder to keep up in your 30s. I never had one of those blow out sorority style spring breaks in college, because I was just a science nerd working full-time through school. Perhaps I am just untrained in Spring Break fortitude, but after just a few drinks and a tipsy dip into the 63 degree Atlantic, I got a head cold and that was the end of my alcohol consumption for the week. Which is fine because I usually find alcohol to be a waste of calories and memories. I did not let a little sniffling disrupt my good time too much. And aside from Sudafed, Coconut Water and cough drops, below are some of my spring break essentials. No tequila, string bikinis, or condoms on this list, it is composed for the Adult Spring Breaker. These essentials will make you feel more confident than you did in your co-ed days. In addition to tanning, it tones and tightens since it is enhanced with caffeine, seaweed extract and Baobab oil. L*Space Swim Bikini, Hey Girl Top $86/Porta Bottom $99 from Bunulu L*Space will make your wallet ache more than your retired Victoria Secret swim, but once you feel the fit of this bikini you will no longer crave the catalog ‘kini. This brand is the choice for busty women because their tops stay put, which is important, you don’t want to end up on Girls Gone Wild coming out of the surf. The Admiral’s Daughters Tees, $30-$45 per tee Since the Spring Break dress code is mostly beach casual, I live in these shirts by The Admiral’s Daughters. This brand makes quirky, punny tees and you can feel good about the purchase since the company donates to military families and ocean conservation. I was rocking my Coast to Coast tee all the way from Auggie to Palm Beach, and what better way to spend a weekend with the girls than in a “Babe Cave” tee. I love their Mocc ‘N’ Roll Collection and Icon Taylor bronze sandals are the finishing touch to my Boho look. A Monokini/Body Suit, O’Neill Aloha Flora Ruffle One Piece $84 from Bunulu It took me awhile to hop on the monokini bandwagon because I’m a bikini addict. When I discovered that they could be multifunctional as a body suit I was sold. I am in love with this piece from the O’Neill Vintage Aloha Collection. Also, in your 30s the beer in a bikini does not sit as it did in your college days, having a one piece on hand is key to make you as sexy as SB 2009 dancing on top of the bar at Señor Frogs. But don’t do that, SnapChat captures everything and you’re an adult now, or at least trying to be.
