If you have not given away your children or cut your own bangs then you’re doing great, sweetie. The first week was actually pretty glorious being forced to work from home. I even spent Friday night eating Kapow takeout, put it on real dishes, put on a hipster playlist, lit a candle and pretended like I was in the restaurant. This week has been a different feeling, like the walls are closing in on the whole world. Today when I saw a “Closed to Prevent CoVid19” sign on the locked dog park gate, I cried more than dog. The beaches are closed, the boat ramps shut down, and local restaurants are suffering under no dine-in orders. What has brought my soul sunshine is watching so many Florida Foodies creating solutions to support local businesses. Restaurant owners, food delivery services and food bloggers have connected to help businesses stay afloat and provide community outreach. Today, I was on a mission to find a food bloggers that were sharing restaurant updates and takeout options for their region. I was astounded to find that food bloggers around the state have been crowd sourcing information onto Google Sheets with specifics on what delivery services they offer and menu limitations. Are you hungry Florida? I have rounded up these spreadsheets created by your Florida Foodie Community so you can support local with a full belly. These are voluntary efforts by mostly food bloggers, and I highly encourage you to take the time to follow them on Instagram and visit their websites. Miami- @miami_foodporn This crowdsourced spreadsheet has been spearheaded by Miami Food Porn which is ran by two ravenous ladies, Dana Rozansky and Rebecca Churer. These globe-trotting foodies have been featured on CNN. Whil on quarantine they are sharing information to support Miami Restaurants. On March 17 the City of Miami ordered closure of all dine-in services and they made the “Your Pandemic Friendly Delivery & Takeout Guide” for Miami eateries to edit their updated hours and delivery platforms. Tampa Bay Area- @thisbabeeats Inspired by Miami Food Porn, Tampa based food blogger Kiera @thisbabeeats also created a crowd sourced Google Sheet for restaurants, marketing teams and PR groups to contribute to. Kiera has also rounded up organizations that are feeding children on free and reduced lunch programs as Pinellas and Hillsborough county schools have closed. Palm Beach County– @flavorpalmbeach Briana Beaty started Flavor Palm Beach in 2007, the county’s restaurant month that takes place every September. In the time of crisis, Briana and Cristyle Egitto of Eat Palm Beach teamed up to make a list of restaurant updates and closures available on Flavor Palm Beach’s website. As Cristyle is also coordinating Save Palm Beach Food, taking monetary donations via GoFundMe to providing meals to first reponders and health care workers from local restaurants. This restaurant list is closed to public contribution, information is sourced by a small group of influencers in hospitality. If you are a restaurant or PR group, you can add your restaurant’s information to this Google Sheet and I will transfer over to the Flavor PB list. Broward County– @ftlauderdalefoodies Alejandra of FtLauderdaleFoodies.com has been doing the headwork for weeks in South Florida sharing information on her blog of delivery changes in South Florida. She also has been bringing attention to the Fort Lauderdale Chapter of Hands for Hospitality which provides financial support to employees of The Restaurant People’s locations such at Boatyard, Yolo and Spatch. Orlando/Central FL- The Orlando Sentinel The Orlando Sentinel has put together a list of Orlando and Central FL restaurants open during CoVID19 Shutdowns. They shared a story on Orlando Takeout Bingo, an actual bingo card you can print off and play along. It was started by a local graphic designer/photographer, and restaurants have been throwing in prizes for those that play. You can print off the bingo card by taking screen shot of Takeout Bingo on @airamdphoto’s Instagram Story Highlight “Support Local.” Please take warning that if you are not a subscriber to their paper, your access will be cut off. I learned that the hard way. St. Augustine- @staugsocial St. Augustine Social has created a link page of all local restaurants, but again this information is not crowdsourced, make sure you directly contact the business to verify if they are available. I have been desparately trying to find a food blogger to spearhead a crowdsourced Google Sheet, but not luck as of yet. If you know of anyone with restaurant contacts, I will create the sheet I just need help getting the word out because the Oldest City is not up to speed with social media communities in my experience.
